Windows 7 PCs end of support

Mon, 03/29/2021 - 13:16

Security updates are no longer available for Windows 7 computers. If your Windows 7 PC was attached to the Partners domain, it will be removed from the domain soon (Most computers are not domain attached). To insure a safe computing environment, these computers should be upgraded to Windows 10. They are more prone to virus and malware attacks.

This raises concerns about PCs used for lab equipment, because the vendor may need to be involved. We realize it may not be feasible to upgrade to Windows 10 if it means the lab instrument can’t function.

For Windows 7 PCs that can’t be upgraded - If you haven’t already, request a ‘variance’. This is an allowed exception.
