Remote access
Research Computing provides the following remote access services, as well as information about frequently requested remote access topics (two-factor authentication, VPN, GoToMyPC):
UCSC Genome Browser
UCSC Genome Browser is an interactive website offering access to genome sequence data from a variety of vertebrate and invertebrate species and major model organisms, integrated with a large collection of aligned annotations. The Browser is a graphical viewer optimized to support fast, interactive performance. It is an open-source, web-based tool suite built on top of a MySQL database for rapid visualization, examination, and querying of data at many levels.
Qlucore Omics Explorer
Qlucore Omics Explorer facilitates a dynamic, visualization-guided analysis of OMICs data, applicable to various phases of a discovery cycle. What differentiates Qlucore is the combination of speed, advanced analytics, seamless workflow, and simplicity. With Qlucore you can visualize, QC, apply statistics, and create publication-ready graphics, such as 3D Principal Component Analysis, heat maps, and various 2D plots.
Adobe: Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator
DFCI now has an enterprise-level licensing for Acrobat, Photoshop, and Illustrator, direct from Adobe. More information can be found on DFCI Online here.
Data acquisition & exploration
COBA facilitates data acquisition and definition of data structures, in partnership with other teams across Informatics and DFCI. The Enterprise Data Warehouse team and COBA have made joint efforts to link data from Peoplesoft, EPIC, Info-ed, OnCore, and more into integrated and easily queried views for DFCI users.
COBA routinely inventories the available data to understand which metrics are available in EPIC, DataSteward, EPSi, PeopleSoft, etc., and determine metrics that can be calculated by manipulating existing fields.
Reporting & dashboarding
While both reports and dashboards present statistics, charts, and figures tailored to the needs of the user, they differ in their format. Reports are built as static PDFs and Excel spreadsheets, and are ideal for focused, single-use tasks with a shorter turnaround time.
Analytics assessment & consultation
Within DFCI, and at a state and federal level, the demand for data-driven care is growing exponentially. While the possibility for analytics infrastructure to support efficient, equitable, and high-quality care is exciting, incomplete or inconsistent implementation can create confusion and fatigue.
